Book Review: Star Trek Countdown to Darkness

Title: Star Trek Countdown to Darkness
Pages: 104 pages
Publisher:  IDW
Publication Date: April 23rd 2013
My Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars

Such a fun comic! I am a huge Star Trek fan but for some reason have never really gotten into the comics, or graphic novels. This is a great installment in this series.

The events in this book "Countdown to Darkness" take place prior to the film "Into Darkness". I was excited about this fact although I found that the book doesn't bring lots of new insight into the film. It does set the stage for the movie, also talks about some of the emotions behind them. I really liked this one.

I won't get into the storyline because I don't want to give too much of the story away.

I loved the art of the book, also as a surprise it has actually pictures from the movie thrown in. Over all this is a great read, check it out!

Goodreads Book Description:

From the same creative team behind Star Trek Countdown, the bestselling prequel to JJ Abrams' 2009 blockbuster Star Trek, comes the all-new story leading directly into the movie event of 2013:

On a routine survey mission to a remote planet, Captain James Kirk and the crew of the Starship Enterprise become embroiled in a decades-old conflict between two factions of the indigenous population. The flames of their conflict have been fanned by the unexpected presence of a former captain of the Enterprise, long presumed to be dead. This is a must-have graphic novel for allStar trek fans!
