Book Review: Willow and The Wedding (Children's Series)

This is a series I will be running for a little while, highlighting some excellent children's literature. During the coming months, there will be many children's books. Stay tuned to learn more about it. Read previous posts in this series here.

Oh, my Willow is a very busy, adorable, and entirely inquisitive child. She's impulsive and creative, and your child will love her from the very first page. This is the third in the adorable Willow Series, and she is so excited to get to have an adventure. It is time for her uncle's wedding, and she gets to be the flower girl. There is an important topic here though, her uncle is getting married to his boyfriend. This book will start a genuine conversation about relationships, without hitting you over the head or having a set agenda. This is a children's book not a social justice agenda, so have no fear.

The trouble comes when Willow has a plan to make everything just perfect. She wants to improve upon a lot. Unfortunately, some of her plans are better than others. Also, her uncle has just thrown a huge monkey wrench into everything. He is completely and entirely refusing to participate in any dancing! How can there be a wedding with no dancing wonders our protagonist Willow? She decides that she can be the cure all and have harmony at the wedding. She does this by reminding him of how he used to like to dance. She tries to bring joy.

The question is will he dance? I guess you will have to read the book to find out ;)

Disclaimer: I received this book from Sleeping Bear Press in exchange for my honest and completely unbiased review. All thoughts are my own.

Goodreads Description:

Willow is back! This time she's so excited to be flower girl for her favorite uncle and his boyfriend's wedding.

Willow just can't wait to help make it perfect. The beach ceremony! The dinner! The dessert! The dancing! But there's just one hiccup. Uncle Ash refuses to dance these days. A wedding with no dancing?!

Willow makes it her mission to remind him of the joy he found in dancing years ago. On the evening of the wedding, Uncle Ash surprises them all and everyone dances in just the ways they were meant to.
