What does one do when your mind says go but your heart says stay?

In Stephanie Deniese Brown's third installment of her Wesson Family Saga, newly divorcee, Renata McKain-Christian learns if giving it up all in the name of love is either the best gift she'll ever receive or the curse she rather not face.

Renata, fresh off a divorce and ready to start a new life, with no distractions, finds immediate trouble the second she accepts a job from Carson Becker. Carson is established, powerful, and most of all rich. All the things Renata is not and that makes her feel unworthy of his love. But Carson doesn't care about her pocketbook, he sets out to capture Renata's mind, body, and soul. Just as he gets Renata to let her guard down and things start sizzling in the boardroom and the bedroom, secrets are unleashed that threaten to take away everything these two have built.

When power and insecurities threaten a relationship everything comes down to figuring out if the love you share is really a gift or a curse.

                                                                        MY THOUGHTS ON THE BOOK

Fingernails running down a chalkboard.
The clicking of a pen in a quiet room.
The smacking and popping of gum.

I can't describe how much I loved this novel. It was a fun and short romance. This is the third book in the Wesson Family Saga. I have not read the first two but this book could totally be a stand alone.

The main character is Renata, she is feisty, strong, and tough. She is almost everything you want in a protagonist. She is in love with her boss and determined to make this office romance work. There is just one problem, that is a woman named Gemini Jones.

This woman is crazy. Renata thought. I should just hit some sense into her head.

She has just recently been divorced and is ready to find love again. She wants a new life that has no drama or distractions. Here new job will make that seem impossible. Then there is Carson Becker. He is a handsome and established man. He is super powerful, successful, and extremely rich. More importantly he has a good heart and a great moral center.

Due to all of these things Renata feels like she isn't good enough for him, even though she wants to love him so bad. Ultimately, we learn that Carson could care less about her little money, or few assets. He doesn't want any of those things.  He wants her passion, mind, body, and ultimately her soul.

Isn’t that what people in the world of the rich do? Sleep with each other one day and jump in bed with another the next.

Things get pretty crazy and sizzling in this book. So much goes down in the boardroom as well as the bedroom. It gets a little bit steamy but not bad at all. All the sudden secrets get out that will change their lives and threaten to take away everything the two of them have built together.

“What about you?” Carson interrupted. “What about me? Renata, you’re not listening, so let me say it one more time and slowly so you can pick up the words I’m saying here. I. Don’t. Care. About. Anyone. But. You. And. Me.”

Overall I enjoyed this book. It was really good and different than most books I have read. The characters were vivid and well done. The writing was absolutely magical and I loved it so much. The author has a way with words that just gripped me. I couldnt put this book down, I read it in two days because it was that fast paced and interesting.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.
