Hope Coleson is having a doozy of a day.
Wrongly terminated from her menial waitressing job? Check
Abruptly evicted from her run down apartment with prime views of the graffiti painted dumpster? Double check.
Thoroughly bedded by a smoking hot man with smooth moves and zero communication skills? Triple X check.
And it doesn't end there. Estranged family members are showing up like bad pennies, her precious savings account has been wiped clean, and she may or may not have a stalker.
So what's a desperate girl to do, but try her hand at love?
Retired Navy SEAL Beckett Smith doesn't make mistakes.
Yes, he drinks his way to the bottom of a beer bottle or six, on one too many occasions.
Sure, he's a well educated man who prefers to communicate at a level only slighter higher than your average poodle.
And yeah, he lost his legendary control and slept with his boss's sister, stripping her of more than just her clothes before making a quick getaway.
Only it doesn't end there. Isolation isn't providing the peace he's seeking, the boss he considers a friend is ready to hand him a beat down and a pink slip, and the girl he can't stop thinking about is suddenly parked on his doorstep.
So what's a jaded guy to do, but take a chance on love?
MY THOUGHTS ON THE BOOK
"First, you could never trust a guy with two first names. A sense of entitlement went hand in hand with anyone named John David, and you could bet the family farm he would cheat on you with some girl named Tiffany the first chance he got."
I am literally shocked that I loved this book so much. Love isn't always easy but it is pretty steamy. I really felt like this was such a roller coaster ride. I loved the romance, the characters, and the hidden messages inside this trashy little novel.
This is the second book in the Love Happens series. We follow Beckett Smith and Hope Coleson as they fall madly in love with each other. At times its hilarious, at times it is cringey, at times it is steamy, but it is always good.
"There had been only one time, on a warm spring day when she was six, that she’d been caught snatching a handful of the prized grapes, cradling them in the fabric of her dirty gingham skirt"
The story follows the main character Hope. Who is Beckett's bosses sister, although he learned that after their first meeting. Even though Hope comes from a privileged family she hasn't lived a fancy life. In fact when he meets her she is just a waitress. She is strong and fiercely independent. She then loses her job and tragically she has a string of bad luck. What I love most about her is that she faces everything with a bit of sarcasm that it is beyond witty. She actively deals with this adversity that has come her way. When she meets Beckett her life changes forever. She finds love, which makes her life more complex.
“What a bitch.” Val smirked as the woman marched away, giving her a dirty look on Hope’s behalf. “Doesn’t she know who you are? I’d have her demoted"
Over all the witty banter in this book is so freaking entertaining. The sex is steamy and pretty hot. It isn't over done either, and surprisingly I didn't find myself skimming those pages. I loved the humor that was a regular presence in this book. I seriously can't wait to read more.
